At any given time, our studio is involved with diverse
projects. All are challenging, and all are rewarding. Here are some samples of
projects from the past few months…
Case Study:
An Evening of Eagles, 2008, Event Production
Take a giant aircraft hangar, the Governor of Texas, 500 Eagle Scouts, an F16 and a Jumbo Jet, and make a night to remember! This was our task in April 2008 to produce a gala event for the Boy Scouts of America and Continental Airlines. Stonefilms provided staging, event production, and both stationary and roving camera setups.
Six 50 inch Hi Def Plasma screens lined the staging area, and the audience experienced the “wow” factor we were looking for!
On Demand Programming, 2008, Cable Content
Cable giant Comcast is rolling out an “ON DEMAND” feature to customers across the nation. Stonefilms is producing ON DEMAND segments for Comcast, with PETS ON DEMAND and DATING ON DEMAND. Several times a month, Stonefilms crews shoot on location and collaborate with Comcast at their Philadelphia headquarters. We especially love working with the Pets segments, in support of the Houston SPCA.
From Worst To First, 2007, Corporate Communications
Following the collapse of Enron, energy companies across the
nation collapsed or were put on life support. Houston based Reliant Energy was trading at 99 cents, and minutes away from bankruptcy. The board of
directors brought in a new CEO, and in a few short years, Joel Staff turned the
company around. A former FERC Commissioner calls the company’s transformation
“from worst to first”.
Stonefilms was hired to document the turnaround, and our
production team produced a dynamic ten minute film that highlights the new
corporate leadership, and the bright future for Reliant Energy.
Marketing Through A Jump Drive, 2007, Marketing
Oilwell service company VisuWell asked Stonefilms to develop
a marketing video that would be distributed to potential clients on a jump
drive. Our crews shot in Houston and L.A., and incorporated uncompressed screen
captures of the software into a six minute marketing video. To fit onto the
jump drive, we took the output of the Avid editing system and converted the
file into a Windows Media 9 file through Sorenson and After Effects.
Virtual Fair, 2007, Web Content
MHMRA of Harris County needed a new web site presence
that would kick off its new service provider listing, branded as a “virtual
fair”. Stonefilms developed two introductory web videos that give the viewer an
overview of the site. The virtual fair is up and running, with Stonefilms
videos accessible in English and Spanish.
Immigration Reform, 2007, Issue Related Production
The debate on immigration reform has been passionate on both
sides of the issue, and Stonefilms was brought in to produce an informational
DVD about the major issues surrounding the debate. Texans For A Sensible
Immigration Policy asked Stonefilms to write and produce the DVD that has
been distributed to over 2,000 lawmakers around the nation.
Steaks and Statues, 2007, Television Commercials
There’s a giant statue of Sam Houston on 1-45 near
Huntsville, Texas. A replica stands at the front of the Steamboat House steakhouse, and for once the adage is true; “you can’t miss it!”. The statue is
huge, and we had to bring in a heavy duty camera crane for exteriors. Interior
shooting made the crew very hungry, doing several takes with sizzling steaks
and butter drenched lobster tails. Three commercials are now playing in
Houston market areas.
Greek To Me, 2006, International DVD Development
Stonefilms works with clients around the world, and last
year our clients at Ineos asked us to produce a safety and information
DVD in a variety of languages, including Russian, Mandarin, and Tagalong.
The two disc set is has been sent all over the world, and is
making the handling of volatile chemicals much safer.
